About Mercy STEP


What is the Science & Technology Entry Program (STEP)?

Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP)is funded by the New York State Education Department and Mercy College.

The general purpose of STEP is to familiarize secondary school students in the Ossining, Peekskill, and Cortlandt communities with
the opportunities available to them in the scientific, technical, health, and health-related professions, and to encourage them to pursue the education and training necessary to enter these fields.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Seventh (7) through twelfth (12) grade students

  • Economically disadvantaged Or African American, Hispanic/Latino, Native American Indian, or Alaskan Native groups

  • Historically under-represented in fields such as science, technology, health and healthrelated professions

  • Students who show an aptitude for science and mathematics, and a thirst for knowledge are considered.
